Equine Classes - Groundwork and Horsemanship
|
Classes at FAF are only taught by owner/trainer Wendy McCann (ARIA Certified) in our 85x150 sand/stone dust arena. Classes in groundwork/horsemanship are offered. Classes are always geared toward giving the individual an all around education. Wendy provides quality instruction that always puts the horse first. Classes include topics such as grooming, parts of the horse and tack, cleaning tack, nutrition, taking vitals, barn management, equine behavior and more. Riding lessons are offered for those who have their own horse who want to truck in to FAF or have Wendy travel to them. Travel fee in addition to lesson fee applies. Wendy has experience in general English riding, low level Dressage and Hunt Seat/Jumping. **Proper footwear and attire is required: Spring/Summer: Boots with a 1.5" heel, long pants and t-shirts (and sweatshirt if cool enough) Fall/Winter: Boots with a 1.5" heel, long pants, shirt, sweatshirt/jacket - NO FLEECE Gloves are optional, but highly suggested *Invoices for classes are sent out on Saturday the week before you lesson and are due Monday evening. Failure to pay by the Monday evening deadline will result in a $25 late fee added to the payment due. Should a class be cancelled either by Few Acres Farm or by the rider, a makeup will be rescheduled within the week. If you choose not to send your child, this is considered a cancellation on your part. If you choose not to reschedule a makeup, that is your choice, but no refunds will be given. Please understand our horses still need to eat and maintain good health and these costs never go away. |

Leasing
When you want to get a taste of horse ownership without a full commitment in time or financially, leasing is a great way to go. It also allows you to practice your skills in a self-directed way outside of classes. Few Acres Farm is excited to be able to offer a couple of leasing options for those who are ready to take the next step in their equestrian endeavors! Must be in the lesson program with Wendy to be able to lease. If you are not currently part of the program, agreeing to become a student is required. One and three month and seasonal lease options for both riding and groundwork only are available at competitive pricing. Leasing opportunities are limited and restricted to only groundwork, so if you are interested please contact Wendy.

Showing
Many of our students enjoy the challenge and fun of competing. While this is not a requirement to ride at FAF, it's an option for dedicated students. Many of the members of the show team have qualified for the Downeast Medal Finals and year end awards through the MeHJA and Maine Horse Association! Riders on the show team must make classes and the team a priority like any other sport. For more information about this aspect of our program, please contact Wendy today! |
